Last summer my family purchased a vintage cabin in the Oregon Cascades near Crescent Lake. The bones were good, so to speak, but the cabin needed updating and all new furniture. While this was primarily my brother's project because he lives nearby, I was assigned the job of decorating it, and I happily obliged. I had to keep a few things in mind - this was going to be an escape for my brother who is a single dad to three girls age 8 and under, so this needed to function as a bachelor pad for him, but also be family friendly. We wanted the furnishings to be simple, have a rustic masculine edge, but also be modern and durable for the kids.

The cabin sits on a beautiful stream and has a large deck and a hot tub. It is a great escape for all seasons with multiple lakes and a ski lift nearby and I wanted the decor to transition well from cozy winter cabin to summer lake house.

This house has it all - a fire pit by the stream, a hammock swing, twinkle lights, outdoor rooms, a traeger grill, and lots of places to cozy up with a good book.

I love this couch from Wayfair. It is the perfect couch for a cabin vacation rental, stylish, it is stylish and durable and has that masculine modern look we were going for. The rustic coffee table and blanket throws are from World Market.

These chairs from Target also fit the bill for modern clean lines, and allows you to pull up a chair around the fire.

We used durable table ware that can't break and can easily go from indoors to outdoors. This room is right off the deck, so the dining areas blend seamlessly while we are eating barbecue hamburgers in the summer. This is the outdoor table that is now on the deck, because we have a larger table in here that can seat a lot of people for a family meal. The rustic table decor is from World Market and the linens are Magnolia from Target.

We added some luxurious touches - like an espresso machine and copper cookware, because who doesn't need an afternoon cappuccino on a family trip? We don't want to rough it too much! Shop this espresso machine HERE Shop my favorite copper cookware HERE
